Advocacy Project

As stated in the previous post, I plan on doing my advocacy project on the same topic as my persuasive essay.  Understanding conservative cultures around the world.  I have decided that I will most likely do a TED talk to discuss and advocate my position.  I chose a TED talk because I believe that I would be most persuasive and be able to advocate my idea the best in an oral presentation.  There will have to be some key edits and changes to my essay in order to make it an efficient advocacy proposal.  I will have to eliminate details and hit only the main ideas, similar to the 90 second presentations in class.  My essay is also very critical of liberals and progressives, I will have to spin or manipulate my delivery during the talk to ensure that it is a more welcoming presentation that will attract the attention of everyone.  Instead of being directly critical of liberals and progressives, I will likely edit it so it seems as if I am looking to not only persuade or advocate, but also inform at the same time.

I think my project will be an advocacy project because of the fact that I will be looking to persuade people.  I personally define advocacy as an action in order to persuade a particular or specific group of people to think or believe a certain way or side on any subject.  I can successfully advocate my position through a TED talk.  My core belief that I will be looking to advocate is the science of culture, and how it is unbreakable by  an outside source.  I think that I will be able to pack enough information in to a TED talk that only lasts a few minutes to convince my audience of this belief.
